A BRIEF HISTORY OF
CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP CENTER
| 1970-72 A series of prayer meetings, Bible studies and men’s meetings sprung up in local people’s homes. |
| 1973 October: Nine men held a home meeting and the “Christian Fellowship Center” was born. The name was chosen to describe the nature and purpose of this body. |
| 1974 Summer: The first pastor of Christian Fellowship Center was selected for its congregation of about seventy-five people. Initial meetings at the Alwine Civic Center grew to three hundred seventy-five people. The Christian Fellowship Center became an incorporation |
| 1976 Attendance at Alwine Civic Center grew to approximately six hundred. |
| 1977 Ten acres of land was purchased and the original church building was erected. The main sanctuary of this new structure was designed to allow for removal of an end wall to make future expansion possible. Soon, an additional ninety acres of adjoining property was purchased. |
| 1978-80 The leaders of CFC were impressed with the need for Christ-centered academic education for their children and a steering committee was formed to develop a Christian school. |
| 1978-81 A building addition of five classrooms and offices were constructed to house the new “Christian Fellowship Academy” in the fall of 1981 and a school administrator was chosen. |
| 1981-91 CFC flourished to a congregation of fifteen hundred people. During this time, CFC experienced some difficult years, years of fluctuation, years of change; followed by years of restoration. |
| 1995 A second major building addition was completed. |
| 1999 A high school program was added to Christian Fellowship Academy and the third major building program was completed to house the high school wing. |
| 1999-Present Christian Fellowship Center continues to “shine” as a strong light Reaching out to those who otherwise might not hear the gospel message. |
